Letting out a little energy while practicing High Frequency Words! WE call them High Freaky words because they are spelled without any pattern usually and are difficult to sound out. So, they're freaky! Here we jumped and jumped while we read our new words for the week. Sounding great!
Monday started off with a lot of energy and getting use to school routines after the weekend. Tuesday we were back on track, off and running and doing some fabulous learning. Check out some of our celebrations thus far and it's just Wednesday! Lyric and Domonic were the first to finish their 100's charts. They know how to write their numbers from 1-100 and were so very proud of themselves! Now on to 120! We had fun bins with learning tools at our tables for breakfast and made all kinds new creations. We found some time to share stories about our lives. It is a great day to be in first grade.
We are slowly building up working stamina with our literacy centers. Students are having fun and forgetting they're even learning. The best kind of days are spent like that. Here are some photos from this weeks centers- sensory, letter/sound reviews, segmenting and some sight words for the winnnnn.
Working on one more and one less this week. We also learned how to chunk numbers in 5 + _ = ?. Math is all kinds of fun with all out great math tools.
We had fun moving and reviewing our letters with Usher today. M is our favorite, maybe Z too. You can see why. :) We explored our math manipulatives today and talked about what each tool might be used for and how it can help us learn more about numbers and shapes. Each table had to present one of the tools and be the "teacher." Working together on teamwork, role sharing and presenting, all at once. Go ahead, give us a pat on the back.

Mrs. OBMrs. O is excited to be leading this bright shining pack of first graders. I grew up down state but spend the last 11 years teaching in the Colorado Mountains.
